Department of mechanical had organized A Professional Development Seminar For Technicians On "Maintenance Measures, Responsibilities And Safety Issues In Engineering Laboratories" By Dr.A.V.S Sreedhar Kumar & Mr.T Rajeswar Rao On 16/09/2017 A laboratory is a place, building or part of a building used for scientific and related work that may be hazardous. The work conducted in a laboratory may include teaching or learning, research, clinical or diagnostic testing and analysis. A laboratory may have associated areas including preparation, instrumentation, decontamination, wash-up and storage rooms, or a workshop in an engineering area (eg mechanical, electrical, aeronautical and civil engineering). Maintenance is the discipline and profession of applying engineering concepts for the optimization of equipment, procedures, and departmental budgets to achieve better maintainability, reliability, and availability of equipment. Maintenance is increasing in importance due to rising amounts of equipment, systems, machineries and infrastructure. Since the Industrial Revolution, devices, equipment, machinery and structures have grown increasingly complex, requiring a host of personnel, vocations and related systems needed to maintain them. Maintenance is to ensure a unit is fit for purpose, with maximum availability at minimum costs.
